NEWCASTLE Falcons scrum-half Hall Charlton has become the latest player to pledge his future to the club, signing a new two-year deal.

The Durham-born 29-year-old has made 176 first-team appearances for the Falcons since making his debut in the 1998-99 season, having previously come through the Newcastle Academy system.

Director of rugby Steve Bates said: "Hall is a vastly experienced performer at Guinness Premiership level, who continues to work incredibly hard at his game.

"He is a local lad who knows what it means to represent his region's team, and we look forward to having him on board for at least the next two years."

Speaking after signing his new deal, Charlton added: "There is real competition for places at the club right now, and that is something that really motivates me as a player.

"It is driving up standards right across the board, I'm working harder than ever behind the scenes and it looks like being exciting times next season with the quality we have here."
