Premiership giants Sunderland have agreed to send a team to Ryhope CW on Thursday night to commemorate an excellent season.

Ryhope , who currently head the ENL second division, won four trophies on their way to promotion from the Wearside League last season, and their big neighbours accepted an invitation to play a friendly.

A club spokesman said: "The fact that Kevin Ball has taken the time to help the club with this match and the experience for the team will be good. It also helps to bring the local community together as well.

"People in general in Sunderland are all mad about their football and something like this just pulls them closer together."
