There are two all Northern League ties in the draw for the last 64 of the FA Carlsberg Vase, made at lunchtime on Monday.
Billingham Synthonia will face Consett at Central Avenue -- Synners beat Crook on Saturday -- while Spennymoor, one of the favourites for the competition, have a tough home game against Ashington.
Synners assistant manager Lee Tucker said: “It is obviously disappointing to get another Northern league club but at least it is a home draw. We know how strong Consett are on their day and it will be an extremely tough game for us. However, I am sure that they see us as tough opposition too and it will boil down to who performs on the day.”
Holders Whitley Bay are at home to Bridlington Town, who are pushing for promotion from the Northern Counties East League. Whitley manager Ian Chandler said: "All we wanted was another home draw, and hopefully to avoid another Northern League team."
West Auckland are at Askern Villa, second bottom of the first division of the NCEL, the same level as the NL second division. West manager Peter Dixon said: "I'm happy we haven't drawn anotehr Northern League club. I'd rather go into the unknown."
Dunston face Parkgate, who came from behind to beat Bedlington last Saturday. Manager Billy Irwin said: "It's a tough game for us, because they beat Bedlington. Hopefully I'll get a run down from Bedlington about them."
The draw as it affects the north east clubs is: Billingham Synthonia v Consett, Dunston v Parkgate, Spennymoor v Ashington, Newcastle Benfield v Deeping Rangers, Askern Villa v West Auckland, Whitley Bay v Bridlington. Ties to be played on December 3rd.
