Norton made no mistake in the Durham Challenge Cup by winning 3-1 at Wearside League club Jarrow, although they finished the game with ten men.
Nathan Mulligan put Norton into the lead from the penalty spot on 20 minutes, and after Jarrow equalised through Grant Pressling, Garry Barnes restored Norton’s lead from the edge of the box. Dale Mulligan was then dismissed for violent conduct, but Dave Alderson headed the third from a Nathan Mulligan free kick.
The draw for the last 16 now reads: West Auckland v Consett, Newton Aycliffe v Shildon, Seaham Red Star v Esh Winning, Billingham Town v Dunston, Sunderland Ryhope CW v Crook Town, Norton v Gateshead, Sunderland RCA v Spennymoor, Darlington v Wolviston or Hartlepool.
Wolviston v Hartlepool was postponed on Saturday.
