A last minute winner in extra time gave Sunderland RCA a 4-3 win in the Durham Challenge Cup at Durham City last night.
The RCA took the lead after 40 minutes when James Oates scored with a header from a free kick, but City equalised from the penalty spot through Stephen Thompson straight after the restart. After City hit the bar, Bryan Stewart broke away at the other end to put RCA back into the lead, and then he quickly added a third. But Durham fought back, and Gary Brown and Amar Purewal scored to force extra time. And just when penalties seemed certain, up popped Gary Shields with the winner.
