There could be a feast of goals tonight when Consett and Guisborough replay their first round FA Vase tie.
The teams shared eight goals in the original game last Saturday, and Guisborough boss Chris Hardy said: “We were very unlucky not to progress to the next round last Saturday , in a game where I thought we were the better team. We’re looking forward to the replay.” Centre half Tommy Marron will miss the game because of injury, while another defender, Karl Liley, is suspended. Midfielder James Decosmo and striker Liam McPhillips, are also missing., but experienced midfielder Willie Boland returns.
Consett are hoping that defender Jamie Poole can play as he has recovered from injury, but defender Ryan Bell will have a fitness test.
Consett manager Kenny Lindoe, with a touch of irony, said: “It certainly wasn’t a game for the faint-hearted last Saturday, it should be another good one tonight.”
In division one, Norton are looking for a replacement keeper for their home game with Shildon, because Jim Provett has a broken bone in his hand, and will be out for three months. However, recent signing John Alexander will make his debut up front, while midfielder Craig Gott returns. Shildon expect to be unchanged.
In the second division, North Shields have a fitness doubt over midfielder Gareth McAlindon ahead of their home game with Ryton and Crawcrook, who have slipped to fifth bottom. Ryton manager Dave Hagan will make changes to the team that lost at home to Chester-le-Street last Saturday.
West Allotment will probably be unchanged for their home game with Washington, who haven’t won in six matches.
Northallerton, who are at home to Gillford Park, will be at full strength. Gillford haven’t lost in nine league games. The Cumbrians expect to complete the signing of striker Simon Tucker from Workington, while Graham Anthony, James Parker and Ryan Errington will all return.
