Bishop Auckland manager Colin Myers has agreed a contract at the Heritage Park club.

Myers will be starting his third full season with Bishops since being appointed in February 2009 , and said: “Another club showed interest in me during the summer, but I had no intention of moving.

“The chairman, Terry Jackson and I both think that the job is only half done and that there is still plenty to do.

“We’re happy with the direction that the club is going in, and my signing a contract will also dispel rumours that somebody is being lined up to replace me. The club also wants to protect itself.

“I believe that we’re in our strongest position yet with regards to the quality of our first eleven players, especially our forward line. We’ve got Wayne Gredziak, Andy Johnson and Dan Hawkins – there’s a lot of mobility and speed with those three.”
