Newton Aycliffe manager Alan Oliver is hoping to add some quality to his Second Division winning squad in the next few days.
Aycliffe have climbed from nowhere up to the first division of the Northern League in the last five years, but Oliver is aware that last season's second division title squad will need to be improved in order to stay in the top flight.
"We're under no illusions that we need some more quality in the squad for the first division," he said.
"We need to be fitter, stronger, and more energetic. Hopefully, the players whowe're after will provide that."
Oliver won't say publicly who his targets are, but his number one priority will be a replacement for Warren Byrne, who has moved to neighbours Shildon for the second time after scoring 44 league goals for Aycliffe last season.
Undoubtedly, Aycliffe's promotion will add some more spice to the league in South Durham, with Spennymoor, Shildon, Bishop Auckland and West Auckland providing derby opposition.
"We're really looking forward to the season," said Oliver. "We know what to expect, and we'll be under no illusions.
"We know that we won't be winning as many games as last season, and our aim will be to consolidate in the first division, and maybe have a run in the Vase or FA Cup. We will enjoy welcoming the top teams in the league to Newton Aycliffe."
Aycliffe kick off the season at home to Stokesley on August 13, while their first local derby will be at Bishop Auckland on August 29.
