League cup holders Newcastle Benfield have been given a home tie against relegated Ryton and Crawcrook when they begin the defence of their trophy in the new season. Beaten finalists Spennymoor go to Morpeth, who finished bottom of the second division.
A proposal by the league management committee to scrap extra time in the League Cup and Ernest Armstrong Trophy and go straight to penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes was defeated at the AGM.
The draw for the first round is: West Auckland v Whitley Bay,Stokesley v Northallerton, Easington v Whitehaven, Dunston v Tow Law, Seaham Red Star v Crook, South Shields v Esh Winning, Ashington v Chester-le-Street, Newton Aycliffe v Team Northumbria, Jarrow Roofing v West Allotment, Penrith v Guisborough, Brandon v North Shields, Birtley v Thornaby.
