Former Premiership star Trevor Benjamin is no longer manager of STL Second Division side Morpeth -- but he could remain at the club in another capacity.
Benjamin, with former Newcastle full back Olivier Bernard alongside him as coach, took over in September from Tom Wade when he went to West Allotment, but with very few resources, Morpeth struggled all season, and the club finished bottom of the second division -- a year after being relegated second bottom of the first division.
After talks this week, Benjamin has stepped down, and the club held interviews on Thursday night with two candidates, but the club is hoping that Benjamin will stay on the coaching staff.
Morpeth only avoided relegation because the league is expanding to 22 clubs next season.
