Thornaby have arranged a grand opening of their newly-refurbished Teesdale Park home next weekend.
The Second Division club have pulled off the impossible by reaching the required ground standard for the second division in a few short months, and are almost certain to be playing in the league next season. An injection of Lottery money and big support from the local community and local bodies have transformed the ground.
As well as new football facilities, there is a fitness trail, a teen shelter and picnic area, with new fencing and roadway. The event is on Sunday 29th May, beginning at 2pm.
Meanwhile, Thornaby have arranged several pre season friendlies, the most notable of which is the the game against Guisborough to commemorate the opening of their new stand on July 16th. The stand is being named after their former secretary Peter Morris, who sadly died during the season.
