After many false starts, Gillford Park are all set to play their first home league game against Newton Aycliffe tonight.
The Cumbrians have been tantalisingly close to playing their first home game this season, but have been denied at the 11th hour either by their uncompromising landlords or the weather.
Last Saturday, their proposed home game against Seaham Red Star at their alternative venue of the Copeland Sports Centre in Workington was postponed because of waterlogging, but the pitch, which has never been used for a game at Northern League level, passed an afternoon inspection.
Gillford immediately contacted Aycliffe, and told them to travel.
Gillford still have another 18 home games to play after this, assuming that they survive next Thursday's league management committee meeting at which they are updating the league on the issue with their landlords.
The league has been told by two authorities that the ground is safe, but their landlords won't allow them access to the field.
