Bishop Auckland manager Colin Myers is looking for much better defending from his side in their six pointer against Esh Winning at Heritage Park tonight.

Bishops lost their eighth successive game in league and cup when they were beaten 4-0 at home by Norton last Saturday, and Myers said: “Confidence is low at the moment, because the mistakes some players are making, are getting to them.

“This is a must-win game for us, because teams near us in the relegation battle picked up points on Saturday.”

Myers will probably choose from an unchanged squad, while Esh are without injured striker Ian Ward.

Tow Law, who were thumped 6-2 at Ashington on Saturday, are at Penrith. Manager Ian Davison will choose from a full squad, except for striker Greg Halliday, who is unavailable.

Jarrow Roofing are without Dan Carson and Mick Rodenby for their local derby against Sunderland RCA.

An apprehensive Newton Aycliffe go across country to play Gillford Park in the second division.

The game has been switched from Gillford Park’s home ground to the Cumberland FA academy in Whitehaven because of the problems Gillford are experiencing with their home ground, but the alternative ground has never been used for a game at this level before, and Aycliffe are concerned about the standard of the facilities and the pitch.

Gillford were due to play at the CFA ground on Saturday against Seaham Red Star, but the match was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Aycliffe will be without Mark Peck, Craig Mikel and Shaun Davies all because of work.

Horden are at North Shields, and are missing full back Ash Corker, who is having a trial at Grimsby Town this week. Craig Garthwaite will have a fitness test.

Chester-le-Street play Whitehaven for the second time in four days in the Ernest Armstrong memorial Trophy. Whitehaven won the league game 4-2 on Saturday after being 4-2 down at half time.

In the North Riding Senior Cup, Marske United will be without winger Karl Charlton at home to Grangetown, as he has already played for Guisborough in the competition. Defender Mark Taylor is also missing.

Guisborough add former Hartlepool midfield Willie Boland to their squad at home to Middlesbrough, with striker Chris I’Anson also on his way back after suspension.
