Shildon manager Gary Forrest says that his team could easily have scored 15 against Ryton last night.

Shildon reached double figures with a more than comfortable 10-0 victory, demonstrating the difference in class between the top and the bottom of the table.

“We could have had more, because we missed a penalty as well as some easy chances,” said Forrest.

“I felt sorry for Ryton, because they showed plenty of effort and enthusiasm, but when we got to 4-0, they collapsed and ran out of steam.”

Skipper Bobby Moore scored five of the ten – all of them in a quickfire burst in the second half -- and Forrest said: “Bobby is capable of doing that, because he times his runs very well. I don’t know what his best position is. He’s not far off being our best defender, he’s our best attacking midfield player, he’s our best holding midfield player and he’s not bad as a striker.”

Moore’s five goal blast is the first time he’s scored this season in the league, and he is only the second player to score five in a league game, the other being Benfield’s John Campbell.

Meanwhile, Ryton secretary Ken Rodger says that the team will continue. “We’ll just keep battling away until the end of the season. We’ll just do what Durham did and rely on youngsters to get us through.”

Billingham Synthonia, who were hammered 6-1 at Penrith last Saturday, upset the form book by drawing 1-1 at Consett, who had won their previous ten home games.

“There was a big change in attitude last night, and the players kept their discipline and shape well. They were all over the place last Saturday,” said assistant manager Lee Tucker.
