Shildon skipper Danny Moore scored five as the Railwaymen steamrolled Ryton 10-0 in the STL Northern League at Dean Street last night.

Moore became only the second player in the league this season to score five in a game, all of them coming in the second half. Sonny Andrews put Shildon into the lead after 13 minutes from a right wing cross, then Danny Richmond scored from Dave Gordon’s cross. Andrews then missed a penalty before Jamie Harwood fired in a left foot shot just on half time.

Needless to say, it was still one way traffic in the second half. Sub Lee Chapman slipped the ball past the keeper for 4-0, then Moore did his demolition act, scoring his first three goals in the space of nine minutes and adding another two before the end. Sub Chris Hughes got another. Shildon also missed some more easy chances, as they rattled up their best score for several seasons.

Consett missed a chance to go back on top of the table after they were surprisingly held 1-1 at home by Billingham Synthonia, therefore missing out on an 11th straight home win.

Nathan Jameson put Synners ahead with a 30 yarder in the second minute, and they held on to the lead until the 57th minute when Gavin Barton helped the ball on for Gavin Ross to fire the equaliser. The Synners defence held on for a point against some strong pressure.

Newcastle Benfield beat Norton 2-1 after playing for all but ten minutes of the game with ten men after Richie Paxton was red carded for a foul in the box, Craig Gott converting the penalty. Kieron McDonald equalised following a good run, and Ian Graham scored the winner with a low shot.

Whitehaven came from behind to win 2-1 at Washington, who took the lead after 8 minutes through David Fort, but Whitehaven scored twice in three minutes in the second half through Kevin Connelly and Craig Robson.
