Rob Marsden became the fifth managerial change in the STL Northern League this season when he left the second division club yesterday.
Hebburn hadn’t won in seven league and cup matches since the middle of September, dropping to fifth bottom in the second division. They drew 1-1 at Brandon last Saturday.
Club secretary Tom Derrick said: “Rob has left because results and recent performances weren’t improving, and the prospects of them improving weren’t very good. He decided to leave in the interests of the club.”
Marsden, a former player, took over a year ago from former Sunderland player David Rush, and guided the club away from the bottom of the table, but hasn’t been able to maintain that progress this season. The other managers to leave their jobs this season are: Paul Bennett (West Allotment), Tom Wade (Morpeth), Barrie Fleming (Ryton) and Adam Furness (Esh Winning).
The club could appoint a successor as quickly as Monday night.
