The day that Bishop Auckland fans thought they might never see finally arrives on Sunday when they open their new ground at Tindale Crescent.
After an agonising and sometimes frustrating eight year wait, Heritage Park will be officially opened.
There have been several false starts, many meetings, several setbacks and many hours of negotiations along the way since the scheme was first considered fifteen years ago, and for eight years the club has groundshared at three other grounds -- a total of around 200 "home" games.
The new ground has a capacity of 2,000, with a covered main stand, and a covered terracing area behind one goal, and plenty of facilities which Bishops hope will increase their revenue streams.
The opening ceremony on Sunday is by invitation only, but the general public will have their opportunity to look around next Saturday, October 30th.
The first game will be against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, November 2nd, tickets for which are available now from the club, and also on the open day.
The first league game is on November 9th against South Shields.
