Website October 20 Newton Aycliffe will be missing their star striker when they face First Division leaders Consett in the Durham Challenge Cup at Moore Lane tonight.
Top scorer Warren Byrne, who has bagged twelve league goals this season, is serving a two match ban and so will be absent tonight as Aycliffe try to pull off a giantkilling.
But nevertheless, Aycliffe boss Alan Oliver is looking forward to the game. “We’ve got absolutely nothing to lose, because no-one expects us to win. There’s no pressure on us at all.”
Aycliffe had a crowd of 251 last Saturday, and they’ll be hoping to top that figure tonight.
Consett, who lost at Dunston in the league last Saturday, expect to add Scott Martindale, Gavin Ross , Andy Cuthbertson and Anthony Lund to their squad.
Shildon host Bishop Auckland in a meaty local derby at Dean Street. The Railwaymen have a big doubt over keeper Keith Finch, and they will also give fitness tests to Sam Garvie, Steve Johnson and Justin Keegan.
Bishops manager Colin Myers has signed midfielder Graham Irving from Consett, and he could go straight into the side tonight. Midfielder Steve Salvin is unavailable.
Holders Billingham Synthonia are at home to Wearside League club Jarrow, and they will be missing Chris Burton because of suspension, while Mark Scott and Michael Jameson are both doubtful because of injury.
Crook, who are at home to fellow second division club Washington, will definitely be without keeper Ian Myers because of an ankle injury. Washington will give fitness tests to Chris Hepple and Nicky Martin.
