Newton Aycliffe manager Alan Oliver reckons that his side played their best 90 minutes of the season when they won at Marske in midweek.
Aycliffe’s 2-0 win lifted them over Guisborough at the time to go top of the table, and Oliver said: “It all came together for 90 minutes, and not just 45.
“But it’s important that we don’t get carried away, because there’s still a long way to go yet. We have to keep going.”
Oliver gave a debut to defender Chris Beckett, signed from West Auckland, and was with him at his last Northern League club, Crook Town. He might also have another new signing before Saturday’s home game with unbeaten Whitehaven.
