Crook Town climbed into third place in the STL northern League second division with a comfortable 6-0 win over Horden at the Millfield last night.
Both sides had good chances in the first half, with a header by ex Horden player Andy Appleby separating them at half time, but the second half was one way traffic. Another former Horden player, Kevin Devine ran through after a mistake in the Horden defence for the second soon after half time, and then the floodgates opened with three goals in ten minutes through Devine, Appleby and John Jury, with Appleby completing his hat trick late on.
Guisborough returned to the top of the second division with a 1-0 home win over local rivals Northallerton, Austin Johnson scoring their goal after 75 minutes. Guisborough are now a point ahead of Aycliffe at the top of the division.
