West Auckland are hoping to lead the Northern League into the last 16 of the Buildbase FA Vase by beating Walsall Wood at the Wanted Stadium today.
West are joint third favourites to win the competition outright, but they have a tough task against Walsall Wood, who are currently seventh in the Midland Alliance.
Manager Gary Forrest is very focused on taking the club further in the competition and said; “It’s going to be a very tough game; we’ve watched them play twice.
“It’s one of the hardest draws we could have had, and we will have to be at our very best to get through this game.
“However, the lads are playing well, and we have the quality in our side to beat any team at this level on our day.”
Midfielder Adam Mitchell is suspended, and defender Chris Hunter is injured.
There are three other Northern League clubs in Vase action. Consett are at home to Lutterworth, Stockton Town face Atherstone, and Hebburn are away to Vauxhall Motors.
