ENL Leaders West Auckland have launched a search for a new manager following the shock resignation of Anth Smith tonight.
Smith took charge of West following Peter Dixon’s decision to quit in August, and since then has guided them to the top of the table, where they hold a nine point lead.
But after a swift meeting with the club committee, he and David Rush announced their resignations.
Smith said; “Certain people were interfering with team affairs, and my budget was cut because I didn’t agree. I didn’t know where I stood, I’d already cut the squad back.”
West Auckland general manager Stuart Alderson said; “Things haven’t been right over the last few weeks. We hope to have someone in charge for Saturday.”
