Whitley Bay have started a search for a new manager following the departure of Leon Ryan.
The player-manager quit for work and family reasons on Tuesday night after the 4-2 home defeat by North Shields, and said; “I went into the job knowing that it was a big commitment and was proud to accept it. I gave everything I could for the club but combined with the pressures of work, which involves travelling across the country every week, it has left me with insufficient time to devote to my young family.”
Steve Foster, who was Ryan’s assistant, is in charge for Saturday’s game against Newcastle Benfield.
The club has an open mind about who will succeed Ryan, but there is sure to be plenty of interest in the role which Ryan had filled since February following the departure of Ian Chandler.
Anyone interested should write to Paul McIlduff, Chairman, Whitley Bay FC, Hillheads Park, Rink Way, Whitley Bay NE25 8HR as soon as possible.
