Marske United are taking a big following with them for their FA Vase third round tie at Consett today.

The club has laid on free transport across to Consett, and over 100 supporters have taken advantage of the offer. The club laid on transport for the Northern League cup final last season, and they were rewarded with a noisy atmosphere on their way to winning the cup.

Marske manager Carl Jarrett said; “We’re going into the game full of confidence. We’ve done really well away from home this season, and pulled off some good results. We’ve drawn at league leaders West Auckland, and won 6-2 at Bishop Auckland recently.

“But we know that we’ll have to be at our best to beat Consett, because they’re a very good side, and have some good players.”

Marske will be without are strikers Danny Brunskill and Joe Melvin who are both cuptied, while midfielder Austin Johnston is suspended. However, Sam Garvie is expected to pass a late fitness test.

Consett are without centre half Dan Madden because of suspension, while David Brown, Ryan Bell and Jonny Wright are all injured.

The teams have met once already this season, but their game had to be abandoned with Marske leading 1-0.

Shildon’s tie at Shaw Lane Aquaforce was postponed last night because of a waterlogged pitch, and has been re-arranged for Tuesday night.

There are three all Northern League ties in the regionalised draw.

Whitley Bay take on Dunston UTS in the tie between two former winners at Hillheads. Whitley are without Michael Laws, Alex Kempster, Chris McDonald and Brad Brooking, while Dunston manager Billy Irwin will choose from a full squad.

The two sides have met twice in the competition in the last four seasons. Dunston knocked Whitley out last season at the same stage, while Whitley won in the 2011 quarter final at Dunston.

Seaham Red Star, the last remaining club from the ENL second division, are at home to North Shields, and are hit by the news that top scorer Sonny Andrews has injured knee ligaments, and could be out long term. Lee Kerr, a three time winner at Wembley, is suspended, as well as Dean Nicholson, while full back Chris Storey is cuptied. Carl Thorp and Ryan Burton will both have fitness tests.

Shields, who are joint second in the first division, are missing defenders Joe Elliott and Stuart Donnison, but centre half John Parker and striker Dean Walker both return to the squad.

Newcastle Benfield are at North West Counties League side Chadderton, who won their midweek replay at Darwen, and player-manager Steve Bowey is ruled out because of injury, as well as Mark Turnbull.
