Shildon went back to the top of the ENL First Division on goal difference with a comfortable 3-0 win over Bedlington at Dean Street last night.
Shildon took the lead after just 48 seconds when Steve Johnson forced the ball over the line in a goalmouth scramble, and they missed a string of chances to increase their lead before they scored the second on 51 minutes, when Darren Richardson's shot was parried, and Sam Garvie tapped in.
It was 3-0 on 55 minutes when Garvie made a good run down the left and laid the ball on a plate for Johnson to turn home.
-- Meanwhile, Shildon were hoping to stage their Durham Challenge Cup semi final against Consett next Saturday, but the game will now take place this Wednesday as most of Consett's players are attending the Capital One cup final.
