Guisborough reached the third qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time in 21 years and a home tie with Workington when they came from behind to beat Jarrow Roofing at the King George last night.

Roofing took the lead on 23 minutes when Dan Kirkup nodded a cross from Dan Carson across for Gilberto Chapim to head in, but Guisborough levelled from the spot seven minutes later with a Danny Johnson penalty after David Onion was tripped.

Guisborough took the lead on 65 minutes when Mikey Roberts fired home, then James Risborough squeezed in the third with nine minutes remaining.

Penrith made it four ENL clubs into the next round after they beat Scarborough 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Phil Storey scored both Penrith goals in normal time.

In the league, Marske United are still unbeaten after they drew 1-1 at Bedlington New signing Danny Earl put them in front on 62 minutes when he scored from a pass by John Alexander, and after Craig Gott was denied a second by the crossbar, Bedlington levelled with an effort by David Brown.

Spennymoor Town continued to build up their momentum by winning 4-1 at Morpeth to go joint second in the table.

Liam Henderson fired them in front from the edge of the box on 11 minutes, and he doubled the lead with another at the second attempt on 22 minutes.

Dan Taylor made it 3-0 on 44 minutes, while Morpeth pulled a goal back just before the break through Jack Palmer. Lee Kerr made sure with the fourth into the top corner midway through the second half.

In the second division, North Shields easily defeated Stokesley 5-0, with new signing Michael Tait from Whitley Bay scoring one of them. Gareth Bainbridge scored twice to give him 14 league goals for the season Ryton won their first game of the season by beating Norton 2-1, with goals by Reece Darwent and Callum Turnbull, with Anthony Verity earlier equalizing for Norton.

In the Brooks Mileson Northern League Cup, Newton Aycliffe were beaten 1-0 at home by Team Northumbria , Peter Watling the scorer.
