Just as they were gearing up to leave Belle Vue after 63 years, Consett have had to squeeze another couple of games into their already-busy end of season schedule.
The Steelmen were due to play their final home game against FA Vase winners Spennymoor Town today, with the League Cup final to follow as the ground's last-ever game on Saturday, 19 May.
But the league have ordered that the game v Newcastle Benfield which was abandoned on 29 April due to floodlight failure is replayed, so that becomes their final home league game this Monday, 13 May. Kick-off will be 7pm, due to ongoing problems with the lights which caused the abandonment.
Then, on Wednesday, 15 May, Consett will play what will definitely be their last game at Belle Vue, with a friendly against a Newcastle United XI, kick-off 7pm.
Chairman Frank Bell said: "The Spennymoor match was supposed to be our last home game, then we found out on the same day that we would have to replay Benfield, and Newcastle rang up and offered us a game, which we'd been trying to arrange for months.
"You don't say 'no' to Newcastle, so we've managed to fit it in on the Wednesday night, between Sunday league cup finals which were already booked at the ground, and we'll hopefully get a crowd at least as good as the one when Kevin Ball brought a Sunderland XI here last week, when we had nearly 400 in.
"I'm a Newcastle supporter, and I couldn't believe it when Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley offered to bring a side for what will definitely be Consett's last game at Belle Vue. They've promised it'll be as strong a side as possible, involving anyone not on first-team duty."
Belle Vue's final game will be the League Cup final between Newcastle Benfield and Spennymoor Town, which will now kick off at noon on Sunday, 19 May, at the league's request. Admission to all three games has been pegged at £5 for adults, with concessions £3, and a special £1 rate for under-16s at the two Consett games.
