Attendance: 30,405
DERBY COUNTY (4-4-1-1): Carson 5; Christie 6, Keogh 7, Shackell 5 (Bent 87), Olsson 4; ANYA 7 (Ince 78), Bryson 6, Hughes 6, Russell 5; Vydra 4; Wilson 4 (Blackman 66, 5). Subs (not used): Mitchell (gk), Johnson, Pearce, Butterfield.
NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-1-4-1):
6 Sels: Didn’t have much to do but when he was required he was switched on
8 Anita: Has really made the right-back role his own and even has a song about him now
6 Mbemba: Not completely convincing in possession but was solid and made his fair share of blocks
7 Lascelles: The Derby-born former Nottingham Forest defender looked desperate to do well and he did
6 Dummett: Got up and down to help with the attacks and made sure it was hard for Russell;
6 Colback: Protected the back four with his strong running and broke things up regularly;
8 Ritchie: Faded in the second half but looks like a winger playing with plenty confidence
6 Diame: Could have scored before his withdrawal, and otherwise he was solid without dominating things
7 Shelvey: A better first half than second but still impressive and had a part to play in both goals
8 GOUFFRAN: Another hard-working display down the flank only this time he was rewarded with a stunning goal;
5 Gayle: Kept probing and running but found it hard to get much change out of Keogh and Shackell.
Subs:
Yedlin (for Gouffran 72)
Perez (for Gayle 76)
Hayden (for Diame 87)
Not used: Darlow (gk), Clark, Mitrovic, Lazaar.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Yoan Gouffran – is clearly enjoying a new lease of life in the side and his goal was of the highest quality.
