SUNDERLAND picked up their first Premier League win of the season - Steven Fletcher once again on the scoresheet as the Black Cats saw off ten-man Wigan Athletic.
Fletcher scored in the 51st minute to hand Sunderland their first maximum of the campaign, after Jordi Gomez received his marching orders on 47 minutes for a foul on Danny Rose.
Sunderland's Simon Mignolet had denied Aroune Kone with a fine save in the first half, but once Wigan went down to ten men their threat receded.
