HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-3-3):
6 Flinders: Was beaten three times, without having a great deal to do all afternoon
3 Austin: Had to do better to prevent the cross for first goal, missed a penalty and caught out attacking when the third goal came
5 Lanzoni: A little languid at times, but wasn’t really tested defensively against a sole striker
5 Bates: First game back in the starting XI since Paul Murray took over and it was no different to his other games – steady on occasions, stretched at times
5 Richards: Capable of swinging over some inviting crosses from the flank and put a few into the area; Needed to defend better for the first goal.;
4 Walker: Quiet and relatively ineffective. Tried, but just never got into the game
5 Featherstone: His tamest performance so far, didn’t get on the ball and prompt Pools like he has done in previous outings
6 DOLAN: Bright start, kept going and tried to keep Pools busy in midfield;
3 Campbell: Dropped deep for the ball, but offered nothing of any note and no surprise he was replaced
6 Harewood: Maintained his improved run of form, put himself about and tested the defenders
5 Fenwick: Plugged away, but didn’t have a sniff of goal this time and had little service.
Subs:
Schmeltz (for Campbell 58): No dramatic substitute impact this time around 5
Franks (for Walker 65): Contrived to lose possession on the attack – the visitors broke away and scored a second 4
