Yorkshire Phoenix claimed a dramatic victory by two wickets with one ball to spare over Middlesex Crusaders in the NatWest Pro40 League match at Headingley Carnegie.
They seemed to be cruising to their 184 target at 158 for three before wickets began to crash and only one ball remained when Richard Pyrah hit the winning single.
Craig White began with a flurry of boundaries and with Andrew Gale also going well, Yorkshire had hurried to 42 by the ninth over when Gale was pinned lbw on the back foot by Alan Richardson.
There were eight boundaries in White's first 38 runs but both the former England all-rounder and Gerard Brophy slowed down when left-arm spinner Murali Kartik joined Richardson in the attack.
It became spin at both ends with the introduction of Jamie Dalrymple and with his fourth delivery he claimed the wicket of White, who was lbw attempting to sweep for 49 off 59 balls without adding to his boundary tally.
Anthony McGrath drove Kartik to Nick Compton on the cover boundary and Brophy also fell to Dalrymple for 49 as Compton held a catch close to the mid-wicket fence. Compton took a third catch as Yorkshire lost three wickets in seven balls to dip to 159 for six.
With panic setting in, Adil Rashid was run out and Darren Gough drove Tim Murtagh to the cover boundary for Compton to hold on again, five wickets having fallen for seven runs.
Yorkshire required 12 runs off the final over from Murtagh and Pyrah and David Wainwright each hit a boundary to see the Tykes home by two wickets with one ball to spare.
Earlier, Pyrah grabbed three wickets for 22 runs as Middlesex were made to struggle after winning the toss
Middlesex stumbled to 61 for five before Compton and Ben Scott staged a partial recovery, taking the score to 102 before Compton was out, Scott being undefeated on 54 at the close.
