NEWCASTLE UNITED captain Fabricio Coloccini returns to the Newcastle United defence for tonight's Capital One Cup tie at Manchester United.
As expected, Coloccini has recovered from a hamstring problem and manager Alan Pardew is keen to give his skipper a run to build up his match fitness.
Ivorian midfielder Cheik Tiote also makes a first start after calf trouble. He will start at the heart of the midfield alongside Dan Gosling as the Magpies look to win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1972.
There is also a place in goal for Rob Elliot, who will be aiming to keep out the United threat of Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez - among others.
