FORMER Durham player Mark Davies has won Kent's Player of the Year award after proving an instant hit with his new team-mates and the county's supporters.
The 31-year-old seamer from Billingham, who left Durham early this year after ten seasons with the club, has also been awarded an extended contract, along with Ben Harmison.
After barely featuring in his last two years with Durham through a succession of injuries, Davies played in 15 championship matches for Kent plus nine CB 40 games and nine Twenty20 contests.
He took 36 championship wickets at an average of 19.41 and also enjoyed the remarkable economy rate of 1.89 runs an over.
Harmison, who also signed for Kent last winter, played in 11 championship matches before losing his place. He had a highest score of 46 and averaged 20.73, while he didn't get to bat in his three CB40 appearances.
Durham's Phil Mustard, who hit three centuries in the competition, was named the CB 40 Player of the Year at the Professional Cricketers' Association's annual awards evening.
