NEWBURY’S Haynes, Hanson & Clark Conditions Stakes may not have the reputation it once had but it could produce a smart winner this year in Richard Hannon’s Wentworth.
Owned by the powerful Coolmore operation, he arrives on the back of two fine efforts so far this season.
The Acclamation colt finished a creditable sixth behind subsequent Listed winner and Group Three-placed Steeler on his debut when he enjoyed very little luck in running at all.
Hannon then sent Wentworth to York where he was a fine victor in the Convivial Maiden, another race with a rich history amongst its previous winners, despite again suffering a troubled passage.
Hannon is keen to give Wentworth plenty of time and while he is in no rush to up him in class, victory here must surely put him in the Dewhurst frame.
Lanansaak made a winning debut at Salisbury earlier this month and she takes another step up the ladder in the Dubai Duty Free Full of Surprises EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes.
