CHRIS Rushworth today achieved career-best figures for the third time this season, taking the last four Sussex wickets to finish with five for 38, beating the five for 44 he took at home to Worcestershire last month.
Sussex were all out for 180, leaving Durham to score 165 to win and at lunch they were 26 for one.
Keaton Jennings fell for one, fending a steeply-bouncing ball from Lewis Hatchett to second slip, but Mark Stoneman again looked assured in reaching 21.
Phil Mustard claimed his 500th first-class victim off the 16th ball of the day by catching Luke Wells off Ben Stokes. The left-handed opener had failed to add to his overnight 51.
Sussex had resumed with a lead of 96 and five wickets standing, but Rushworth did the rest, swinging the ball both ways to claim two lbw verdicts and a gully catch before last man Monty Panesar lobbed a catch to mid-on.
Graham Onions was totally out of luck as edges and miscued shots just eluded fielders, while he also regularly beat the bat.
