STUART Hall has his sights set on a triple title rematch with Jamie McDonnell after a successful ring return.
Hall beat ex-Welsh champion Dai Davies over six rounds at Peterlee Leisure Centre on Saturday when he made his comeback from September's defeat to McDonnell.
That 12-round British, Commonwealth and European title thriller in McDonnell's hometown of Doncaster was his first loss in a 14-bout career and the Darlington bantamweight says he is ready to avenge that loss following his 59-56 win over Davies.
"It would be a dream come true for me," said the 31-year-old. "Hopefully one day down the line we'll get it.
"I learned a lot from that night and next time against Jamie it will be a different story, definitely."
Hall's boss Michael Marsden though believes McDonnell's manager, Dennis Hobson, would not entertain the idea because they fear what the Darlington dynamo could do in a re-match.
"Sky quite fancy it but I don't think Dennis Hobson will," smiled Marsden.
"We want to fight for a title like the European Or the Commonwealth.
"There might be a bit of a wait for a European shot, but may be the Commonwealth is a possibility, it depends on McDonnell.
"Ideally we'd like a good 10-rounder next, against good foreign opposition, but it's finding one."
Virtuoso Hall it wasn't at Peterlee but the rugged six-round confrontation will have shaken any ring-rust or frustration out of the system.
There were a number of rapid bursts from the former British champ to the head and body of Davies.
However, credit must go to the 28-year-old from Merthyr Tydfil, who competed throughout and earned one round from referee Mark Curry and the share of another session.
Marsden added: "Dai's a featherweight and a good fighter, it was a hard bout to come back to.
"Stuey has developed into a 12-round fighter and to drop down to a six isn't easy.
"He did well - once he used his boxing skills he looked sound,"
Elsewhere on the show, the best supported boxer on the night, Hartlepool's Peter Cope also beat Welsh opposition when he was awarded every round in a 40-36 victory over Chuck Jones.
Sunderland's Johnson McClumpha and former Birtley amateur Craig Dixon won by the same score against Dean Mitchell and Liam Vaughan.
Another Hartlepool-based fighter, Martin Ward won on a second-round KO against Andy Roberts while Newcastle Robert Ismay and Mark Clauzell, from South Shields had stoppage wins against Matt Inman and Andy Hardy.
Easington's Paul Archer pipped Sean Gorman by one point and Gary Fox, from Fishburn, beat Billy Smith 40-38.
The only loser in the home corner on an entertaining night was David Lake, from South Shields, who was outpointed by Scotland's Ryan McNicol.
