HARTLEPOOL United lost their sixth successive home game, equalling an unwanted club record, as they were beaten by Yeovil.

It was the visitors first away win of the season.

The Glovers hadn't won away since March, but they weren't overly exerted in ending their run, as Pools lacked invention and were short of ideas.

Pools striker Andy Monkhouse volleyed against the bar from the edge of the box on 21 minutes, but it wasn't long before the visitors nabbed the only goal.

A corner on the left by Ed Upson was met six yards out by centre-half Bondz N'Gala to bounce past Scott Flinders.

Yet the vistors could have been out of sight by the break.

Andrew Williams had an effort ruled out for offisde and the striker turned Peter Hartley but smashed his shot high over the bar.

Adam Boyd, on at half-time, tried to lob keeper Rene Gilmartin from distance, but could only lift the ball into his hands and Andy Monkhouse had a half-chance, but got the ball stuck between his feet.

The visitors could have sneaked a second on the break and, in injury time, Nathan Luscombe fired against the woodwork for the home side.
