Claydon heads to Canterbury
CRICKET: Durham pace bowler Mitchell Claydon will again spend the winter with Canterbury Wizards.
He will sign for the majority of the one day competition, which the side reached the final of last year, when he took 12 wickets in just five games. Last winter's trip was beneficial as he enjoyed a successful Friends Life t20 campaign for Durham Dynamos in which he was the second highest wicket taker for the county. His one day figures were even better, capturing 21 wickets to be the second highest wicket taker in the country in the Clydesdale Bank 40 domestic competition.
Claydon said: " It was a great experience for me last year to play some good quality cricket at a good standard. To reach the final of the Ford Trophy was an amazing experience and really gave me a hunger to play in more big games.
"Playing overseas during the winter definitely helped my performance back at Durham this season and I'm looking forward to using this second stint with the Wizards as another opportunity to progress my game."
Durham chief executive, David Harker, added: "Mitchell has worked incredibly hard this season, featuring in all limited overs cricket as well securing his debut fiver-fer in a first class fixture. He has been a reliable asset to the team and it's great to see him develop into a senior member of our playing staff."
