HARTLEPOOL UNITED enjoyed a controlled win at Scunthorpe United - their fifth away win of the season.
Pools won thanks to first goals of the season by Andy Monkhouse and Antony Sweeney, but could have been out of sight at half-time.
First up, Sweeney put a header into the hands of keeper Sam Slocombe when put in by Monkhouse.
But the striker gave Pools the lead on 22 minutes, turning in the area to bounce a low shot into the corner of the net.
He then missed a simple header, nodding wide from close range after an Evan Horwood cross.
They had to wait until the closing minutes for a second, Sweeney heading in when Evan Horwood was given a second chance to cross from the right.
Keeper Andy Rafferty was impressive in goal. He didn't have much to do, but dealt with anything the Iron could muster.
