DARREN Bent will start as a lone striker as England take on world champions Spain at Wembley this evening.
The former Sunderland striker has a chance to impress as Fabio Capello prepares for life without Wayne Rooney, who is suspended for the opening three matches of Euro 2012 following his dismissal against Montenegro.
Manchester United's Phil Jones is another player with a great opportunity to push his credentials tonight, as he will play alongside Scott Parker at the base of midfield despite playing most of his club football this season in defence.
Further forward, Frank Lampard will skipper the England side in the absence of John Terry, who is named on the bench.
With Terry expected to return to the starting line-up for Tuesday's game with Spain, Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka will have a rare opportunity to play alongside each other at the heart of the back four.
