ANTONY Sweeney and Nobby Solano are both back in contention for Hartlepool United's game at Leyton Orient tomorrow.

But coach Mick Wadsworth was giving nothing away yesterday over their availability.

The pair have been sidelined through October, Sweeney with a groin injury and Solano a hamstring strain.

They trained yesterday and Wadsworth said: "Both players are training, perhaps Tony a bit ahead of Nobby, but today and tomorrow will decide things.

"There's a couple of knocks to monitor, but they should be OK in time to name the squad.''

Pools have suffered in October, with one win at Chesterfield surrounded by five defeats - and Pools went into the month yet to lose.

They were thumped 4-0 at Victoria Park by leaders Charlton last weekend and Wadsworth said: "I hope last week is out of the system - if it's not we are in trouble. But I think it is. Chesterfield result aside, it's been a terrible month.

"We need to get back to where we were at the start of the season, there's no reason why we can't get there or change it in our favour.

"I think we are better prepared to deal with it because of experience - it's still as disappointing and harrowing but we can deal with it.

"I have to keep a calm head, work hard as everyone does. It's a joint responsibility with the players, staff, coaches, management - we are all in it.

"The sooner we get out of it the better we all feel for it. The fans know that, they feel the same.''

He added: "Generally the fans have been generous in support and patience and for that I thank them.

"There is the odd comment which is understandable. We go back to basics and work really hard to get out of the spell we are in.

"We haven't had a midweek game, we try and take advantage of the situation we find ourselves in. If we have a game, we try and bounce back quickly and take advantage. If we have a clear week it gives us time to work, to get one or two back to fitness and others a chance to get over niggles.''
