IN echoing his manager's sentiments, Paul Murray feels the only way the Hartlepool United squad can put an end to their problems is to take a close look at themselves.

Pools lost their fifth game from six on Saturday as Charlton swept to a 4-0 Victoria Park win.

And, after he emerged from a dressing-room inquest into the difficulties currently encountered, Murray said: "Everyone has to go home and individually look at themselves.

"If you're professional you should do that.

"Hopefully we've got good professionals at the club, which I think we have, who go home and do that.

"That's the only way to get through this.

"I've done it myself over the last few weeks and my performances have picked up. went through a stage of realising what I was doing wrong.

"If you don't then it just continues and that's no good for anyone.''

Murray added: "At half-time I thought we'd had as much possession as them.

"We had about six corners that first half. But possession wise they were far more clinical.

"I've said before about individual errors and that's exactly what it is again. You've got no chance when that's happening.

"It's just not good enough, we did it against Tranmere last week within a minute of the second half.

"You can't get a foothold in the game and we need to stay in the game and you can nick a goal. But when you're giving goals away the way we are it's not good enough. It must just be a mental thing. It was the same last year when we went through a bad run.

"We were just giving crappy goals away then like we are now.''

Pools have been drawn at home to Stevenage in the first round of the FA Cup. The game will be played on November 12. Pools drew 2-2 at Broadhall Way in August, throwing away a two-goal lead in second-half.
