DESPITE an unflattering performance at the weekend, Hartlepool United won't necessarily ditch their experiment with a new formation in the coming weeks.

Pools, after suffering back to back losses, changed from 4-4-2 to a 3-5-2 set up for the game with Wycombe Wanderers.

But Wadsworth changed back to tried and trusted for the second half as his side fell two-goals down in the first-half.

They improved after the break, but the starting set-up will be considered for this Saturday's trip to Chesterfield.

"The system in possession worked well at times and we moved it around well, but it counts for nothing if you don't score.

"It's like the baby and the bathwater - we don't have to throw it out. We will think about it and with them players it should work and it can work. Perhaps we didn't spend enough time on the defensive aspect of it.''

He added: "We will look at it again. I've been here on more than one occasion and it's a mini crisis, not a major one and we are in good shape and in a good position in the table.

"But the problem is all the bloody losses have come along together. If they had been interspersed between the games so far we would be happy.

"But when form goes from there to there then we have to be cautious and turn it around asap. It's about momentum and when you lose three it's something we have to address, but we will - they are a good bunch.''

After a record-breaking nine games without loss from the start of the season, Pools have stuttered, but Wadsworth isn't concerned about the strength of character in his squad.

"They will work their socks off next week to get a result at Chesterfield, I'm not worried about the home games with Charlton or Tranmere yet.

"We will come back, it's just one of those things for now.''

Pools youth team yesterday beat Rotherham 2-1 with goals from Luke Smith and Steven Snaith.

The annual HUFC golf day, in aid of the club's youth development programme, takes place tomorrow at The Wynyard Club, with a shotgun start at 10.30am.
