GUY Wilks says he hopes to return for Peugeot UK next season, but for now he is just looking to make his mark on the Rally of Scotland.

The Darlington rally driver has had a mixed year on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and lies seventh in the standings as the championship heads into the penultimate round.

The rally starts on Friday night with two stages around Stirling Castle and although he has not had the best of luck in recent events, Wilks is hoping to be among the front-runners.

"We've been on the pace in Scotland for the last two years - now we just need to transfer it to the Peugeot and get a result,” he said.

"It's our home round of the IRC and it's a special feeling driving in front of your home fans, family and friends.

"I'd love to win it for Peugeot UK and end the year on a high.

"It's all about performance not the points for us now. It's going to be a big fight, but we have nothing to fear.

"We know our rivals are going to be tough and it's going to be flat out from the word go, but that just means the winner will have earned it."

When asked about his plans for next year, he said: “I’m looking at Scotland. I’d like to think I’ll get the opportunity to come back next year with Peugeot UK. But these are difficult times for whole economy worldwide so it’s fingers crossed for the sport we all love.”
