BAPAK CHINTA is set to run in France before tackling some of Europe’s best sprinters in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York in August.

Kevin Ryan’s Norfolk Stakes hero confirmed the promise of his pillar-topost victory in a Hamilton maiden with a superb display at Royal Ascot.

Although he will stick to the juvenile division for his next start in the Prix Robert Papin at Maisons-Laffitte on July 24, Ryan is keen to let him take on the older brigade over the Knavesmire’s five furlongs on August 19.

‘‘He goes to France next for the Papin and then for the Nunthorpe,’’ said the North Yorkshire handler.

‘‘It’s five and a half furlongs but they go a different pace in France.

‘‘I wasn’t tempted to go straight to York, I wanted him to gain some more experience first.

‘‘I’d love to see him dropped in in a race, but that probably won’t happen in France because of their style of racing and he has such a high cruising speed.’’ With stable jockey Phillip Makin unable to get down to the 8st 1lb which Bapak Chinta is set to carry at York, Ryan is going to have to find a new pilot when the time comes.

‘‘I’ve got a jockey in mind for York but I’ll say something nearer the time,’’ he added.
