Durham's Paul Collingwood was dropped by England alongside wicketkeeper Matt Prior from the one-day squad which was named yesterday.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Craig Kieswetter was recalled along with all-rounder Samit Patel.
Collingwood, 35, is England's most capped one-day player, but retired from Test cricket at the start of this year and only recently returned from a knee injury.
However, the World Twenty20-winning captain may yet play again for his country said selector Geoff Miller.
"It's not the end at all," he said.
"He will be the first to admit that his form over the last 12 months has not been as we would want it to be.
"But we have certainly not closed the door on Paul."
