Yorkshire lost two late wickets during the afternoon session on day three of their LV=County Championship match with Sussex.
By tea they had stumbled to 206 for eight – still 193 runs away from the follow-on target of 399.
The Tykes appeared to be battling hard until the late setbacks.
Although Adil Rashid was out for 24 early on in the session, when he was trapped lbw by Kirk Wernars, Joe Root and Ajmal Shahzad led the resistance at the County Ground until just before the interval.
However, two wickets in an over from Wayne Parnell then ruined the comeback.
Root was the first to go, for an excellent 70, before Ryan Sidebottom was caught behind for a duck to leave Yorkshire on 198 for eight.
They did then manage to pass the 200 mark before tea was called – to pick up a first bonus point of this contest – with Shahzad and Steve Patterson at the crease.
Shahzad was on 16 at the interval, with Patterson on two.
