RACEGOERS will be able to spot a footballing icon at Sedgefield Racecourse today as a charity raceday takes place in aid of the SAFC Foundation.
Sunderland chairman and former Republic of Ireland star Niall Quinn will be hostings the third annual SAFC Foundation Day at the County Durham track.
Quinn is a trustee of the Foundation and a keen horse-racing fan, and last year’s event raised £15,000.
The SAFC Foundation, which is celebrating its tenth year, uses the power of football to increase the motivation, educational attainment and personal skills of young people throughout the North-East.
The day will get underway at 12.20pm, with the first of six races starting at 2.20pm.
General admission tickets are priced from £13 in advance, with £3 going to the charity. There are also a limited number of seats remaining within the Foundation Hospitality Suite or hospitality tickets within the Hoops Restaurant. Call 07140 621 925 for prices.
