DARLINGTON fighter Stuart Hall is being lined up for a maiden European and Commonwealth title fight this autumn.
Hall claimed a Lonsdale Belt outright when he made a third successful defence of his British bantamweight title at Rainton Meadows Arena in April.
The 31-year-old former roofer, who boasts an unbeaten record since turning professional in 2008, has set his sights on a tilt at the European title.
And with reigning European champion Jamie McDonnell defending his Commonwealth crown against Kenyan Nick Otieno in Sheffield this weekend, a triple title showdown in September or October is looking increasingly likely.
"Right now in Britain the best domestic fighters are facing each other, and that trend needs to continue," said Frank Maloney, who promotes both Hall and McDonnell.
"We've had James DeGale against Georges Groves, Kevin Mitchell takes on John Murray in July, and Jamie against Stuey can stand alongside them.
"Jamie didn't seem so keen recently believing he has passed Stuey, but I am sure he and his manager Dennis Hobson can see that is the biggest payday until moves for a world title.
"There is no reason why it cannot happen in September or October at the very latest."
The bout is, of course, dependent on McDonnell seeing off Otieno at Hillsborough Leisure Centre this weekend, and while the Yorkshireman will start as a strong favourite, Maloney does not expect him to have things all his own way.
"All of Nick's defeats have been to men with world title aspirations and, last time out, he went the distance with a top-class Thai fighter, Thangtong Kiattaweesuk," he said.
"I don't doubt for one second that Jamie will give a master class, but a stoppage win would be a special result."
