Hartlepool United today pinned down three more players for next season.

After Paul Murray yesterday put pen to paper on a new deal, this morning Peter Hartley, Scott Flinders and Antony Sweeney all extended their stays at the club.

Hartlepool-born Hartley impressed in a central defensive role this season, a year after moving to the club from Sunderland.

Goalkeeper Flinders ended the season in style, with a dramatic injury time goal to rescue a point against Bournemouth in Pools' final home game of the season.

Sweeney netted 14 goals from midfield to end the campaign as top scorer and attracted a string of admirers, including Huddersfield and Southampton.

But his decision to remain at the club is a massive boost for Mick Wadsworth.

Sweeney made his debut in October 2001 and is in the club's top ten all-time appearance list.

Since launching the innovative £100 season ticket offer for next season, Pools have signed up the majority of their out of contract players, as well as former Newcastle man Nobby Solano and Man City forward James Poole.
